Guest Policies & Important Information

We strive to provide our guests with an exceptionally clean, safe, and friendly experience. The following Policy/House Rules have been established based on our personal experience of operating and managing our facility.
They may appear to be somewhat rigid. In 10 years of operation, from the hundreds of guests, we have only had 2 guests that were asked to modify their behaviour, and one of them that was eventually asked to leave. That was when we found it necessary to create the following guidelines. They are not written in stone unless they need to be.
These Policy/House Rules are considered a part of our reservation agreement with you. As our guest, by reading and signing your registration you are agreeing to abide by all of our Policy/House Rules, terms and conditions, and procedures as found on the website, and in the room. These Policy/House Rules are presented to help promote our guests' safety and enjoyment and to ensure that each guest is aware of the understandings between owners and other guests.
Cooking In The Suites
We ask that guests refrain from deep-frying while cooking in the apartments, as we do not have onsite fire suppression. We do have two fire blankets on site in the unlikely event of a fire.
Appliances
We ask that guests refrain from blending ice in the blenders, to curb damage. They are used to blend juices or drinks without ice.
Sea Turtle Sanctuary
There is a Sea Turtle Sanctuary onsite and we are actively involved in Sea Turtle Preservation. At the very least every second day at 04:45 in the morning we take to the beach to search for new Sea Turtle Egg Clutches to relocate to our sanctuary where they may incubate free from predators. Our goal is one clutch per outing. We are permitted and work with the University of Guadalajara to preserve sea turtles, ensuring that the baby turtles are reared as close to possible as Mother Nature intended, and allowed to return to the ocean, with minimal human handling and intervention. The Turtle Sanctuary is OFF LIMITS to anyone, other than Villa Star of the Sea staff.
Check-In Time
3:00PM - 6:00 PM
Check-Out Time
12 Noon Early check-in is allowed based on availability and aircraft scheduling. A deposit was prepaid to guarantee reservation. The balance for your stay is due 5 days prior to arrival or upon arrival in the agreed upon currency.
Check-In Requirements
check-in must be performed by the person or persons who made the reservation. Valid identification must be provided at check-in. Third party reservations and third party check-ins are not permitted.
Guest Registration
We require valid contact information from the guest making the reservations including first and last name, address, phone number, and signature. The names of all guests occupying the room must be registered. Information regarding your license plate/car description is also gathered at check-in for security.
All guests will pay a refundable $100 usd damage deposit at reservation time.
Checks And Check Cashing
We do not accept checks. We do not provide check cashing services. We do not accept credit cards. For guests staying longer than one week. we accept Paypal, and Interac transfers. We will also attach the exchange rate to the transaction. When paying in cash, Mexican Pesos are preferred.
Rates And Occupancy
All rates are quoted in United States and Mexican currencies, plus tax. Rates as advertised on the Villa Star of the Sea website or any other website or promotional material are subject to change at any time and may increase or decrease at management's discretion. Rates are based on B&B room (1-2 occupancy), One Bedroom Suite (1-2 occupancy),Two Bedroom Suite (1-4).
Quiet Hours
Our facility caters to those that seek relaxation in a peaceful setting 10:00 p.m. to 9 a.m. If you become aware of a disruptive guest, please contact management staff. Computers, music, voices, or other devices must be kept at a respectful low level at all times.
Cancellation
Villa Star of the Sea is not responsible for weather conditions, personal emergencies, or schedule changes affecting your stay. Reservations will be subject to our policy found on our reservations page on the website, www.villastarofthesea.com. We suggest that guests purchase separate trip insurance.
No Show Charges
Failure to check in on the scheduled arrival date for a reservation will be charged as if you showed. Your deposit is non refundable, however 75% will be held for another reservation within the same year, providing months of advance notice of your inability to show for a reservation.
Do Not Disturb And Access To Rooms
To provide all of our guests with an exceptionally clean and safe experience, we reserve the right to enter your guest facilities for reasonable purposes, such as for housekeeping, maintenance, verify that the room, its furnishings, and mechanical equipment are intact, or to address or prevent a violation of our Policy/House Rules. Management or staff will normally knock and announce themselves before entering your guest quarters unless we believe that exigent circumstances exist. Please contact management if you are a "Day Sleeper" or you are staying in the room due to illness. Management reserves the right to enter a room with a known status of "Do Not Disturb" in the event of an emergency, other guests are being disturbed, or damage is being done to Villa Star of the Sea property. The right to privacy ends when a Policy/House Rule is broken. Local law enforcement will be granted immediate access, if it is necessary.
Maximum Occupancy
B&B Rooms maximum occupancy is 2 persons, One Bedroom Suite maximum occupancy is 2 persons, Two Bedroom Suite maximum occupancy is 4 Persons.
Power Failures
Our area is prone to power failures, due to either inclement weather or CFE Issues. We have completed phase I of backup power, currently, only available in the bar and main building. The suites backup power is part of phase II. Our generator is capable of powering both buildings, but, currently, we only have one switching system, in the near future we will be installing a second switch so we will have backup power in the suites. If you have perishables in your fridges, if you label them and give them to us, and we will place them in our pantry fridges and freezers. Backup water can also be connected.
Pet Policy
We do not accept pets between November and April for the respect of our guests, but we allow one small dog between May and November. You must inform us at the time of booking that you would like to bring your dog, as one dog, 12 pounds or under, at a time, is allowed. Dogs must be leashed at all times, and may not be left alone and unattended in the suite. A 750 pesos deposit will be required.
Room Keys
Room keys are issued to guest(s). Please return room keys to management at check-out. Keys that are lost or not returned will be charged against the damage deposit in the amount of 40.00US.
Housekeeping
. Light housekeeping is provided daily between the hours of 9AM and 4 PM. Your garbage will be removed as well as a light sweep. If you would like full housekeeping it can be arranged for $ 50.00 US a week. This includes, mopping of floors, cleaning kitchen and dishes, making the bed.
Personal Laundry
. Your personal laundry can be done, Wednesdays and Thursdays, providing there are no suite changes that day, ask Marychuy, 200 pesos per load, washed, dried, and folded. (We are not responsible for any damage to your personal laundry.) There is also a drop off laundry service in Colimilla. Check the map on the home page.
Linen Changing
Your comfort is very important to us. For guests staying a week or more, bed linen is changed weekly, Tuesdays. Used towels are exchanged for fresh towels every 4 days or as required.
No Smoking
Villa Star of the Sea B&B and Suites is 100% Smoke-Free. We do not permit smoking or illegal drugs. If it is determined that you have smoked in the suite you will forfeit your damage deposit for deep cleaning of the suite. National Public Smoking Ban
Cooking Appliances, Combustibles
The safety of our guests, staff, and this facility is extremely important to us. Open fires, flames or cooking grills, either charcoal or gas, are not permitted anywhere on Villa Star of the Sea property. You are supplied with: 1 toaster, 1 coffee pot, 1 blender, plates, bowls, side plates, cutlery, napkins, place mats ,dish towels, pots , frying pan, bottle opener, grater, dish rack and other accessories. Please do not put melamine dishes (patterned, or turquoise) in the microwave, only use the provided, certified microwaveable safe dishes in the microwave (black or white corelle) Beach towels are also provided. Please do not take pillows or other furniture to the beach.
Meals
La Sirena Gordita is open for food and drinks at 12 noon to 8 p.m.. If you would like breakfast earlier it may be arranged. As a rule, Villa Star of the Sea, or La Sirena Gordita do not accept credit cards or cash cheques.
Transportation
Taxi's to barra de navidad cost approx 300 pesos. A taxi can be arranged for 350 pesos to take you to the grocery store in Cihuatlan and wait and bring you back. We can help you book any tours as well.

There are several great restaurants in Barra de Navidad and Colimilla. Please check the "restaurant page" for more information.
Lost & Found Policy
Villa Star of the Sea assumes no liability for lost, misplaced, or damaged valuables or belongings. If you discover that you have left behind something of value to you, please call or text us immediately 315-112-8827 and we will assist you in locating and returning your lost item.
Alcohol Policy
Alcohol is served, and your own alcohol may be consumed on the property. Our staff will deliver your favorite beverage pool side or to your quarters. It is requested that alcohol on outdoor concrete areas, including the pool area, be consumed in plastic glasses. Poor behavior due to alcohol is not permitted.
Bicycles
Bicycles are not permitted in guest rooms. Villa Star of the Sea does have two bicycles available for guest use. Villa Star of the Sea assumes no liability due to accident or injury. Guests assume the responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged bicycles.
Ocean Swimming
The ocean at Villa Star of the Sea is not recommended for swimming due to wave action and possible under currents. Guests that choose to swim in the ocean do so at their own risk.
Swimming Pools
Villa Star of the Sea does not provide lifeguard services in any of its swimming pools. Pool hours are between 9 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Although quiet people may disregard this rule.
Swimming Pool maintenance is done at approximately 9 PM, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, pools get one cup of chlorine, and one cup of algecide, these chemicals are added in these small amounts, as our pools are Ion purified and require only small amounts of chemicals. It is recommended not to swim for 40 minutes after the addition of chlorine.
In Case Of Emergency Or Emergency Medical
Please notify Management in the event of an emergency. The Emergency phone number is 911.
Non Emergency Medical
Emergency and Non Emergency medical attention is available in the town of Cihuatlan and Barra de Navidad. Please notify management. We also have a wonderful family doctor in Barra de Navidad that keeps day time hours.
FREE WiFi ACCESS: Access to our WiFi is free for our guests. The WiFi access code is subject to change without notice. WiFi signals are excellent and we provide a great internet service, for those that require great internet, or remote working.
Terms & Conditions
Villa Star of the Sea makes our best effort to ensure that all the information that appears on its website is accurate. However, no warranty, expressed or implied, is given that the information provided on this website is error free.
Parking At Own Risk
Parking for guest(s) is free. All vehicles are parked at the risk of the vehicle's owner. Villa Star of the Sea does not assume liability or responsibility for any vehicle while parked on the facility property. Parking is allowed only along the upper driveway and at the entrance to the driveway. No parking is permitted behind the suites, for the comfort of the guests. In 12 years we have never had parking issues.
Damage Discovered After Check-Out
A damage deposit of $100 usd upon booking is required, and returned within 5 days of checkout. Guest Rooms found with damage or where deep cleaning is required will be subject to maintenance deep cleaning fee, and/or third party fees and possible loss of damage deposit. We endeavor to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. These rules are written and to be aware of, but, are not rigid unless it becomes necessary.
UPPER BALCONY SUITES We ask that Towels, bedding, clothes, bathing suits, etc., not be hung from the balcony to dry.
POWER CONSUMPTION One of the most expensive commodities in Mexico is Electricity. We ask that A/C be switched off when not in the room, and when on, windows and doors remain closed.
This agreement is not rigid, UNLESS it needs to be.
SEPTIC SYSTEMS are a working, functioning Bio System. We use biodegradable toilet paper that may be flushed, however, for everything else, if you didn't eat it, it needs to be placed in the refuse receptacle provided in the bathrooms, or be taken to the trash bin behind the building. We ask that you ESPECIALLY abide by this request. Items other than bio waste do NOT break down or easily pump from septic systems.

Cancellation Policy . . . . .
At the time of booking we require 50% down, with the other 50% due upon arrival. A reservation is only complete when we have received your deposit. We are a small boutique resort and we are booked back to back through the high season. Many of our guests are booking two years in advance. We do not refund, but we will rain check your stay and credit 75% toward your rebooking, during the same season. No show for a scheduled booking will result in a forfeit of your booking deposit. We suggest that guests purchase separate trip insurance.
Games, jigsaw puzzles, cards, books
The Chubby Mermaid, (La Sirena Gordita) has these items for use in the bar, and may be taken to your suite.
