Villa Star of the Sea - Guest Guidelines

At Villa Star of the Sea, we have intentionally developed only a portion of our one-acre oceanfront property to preserve space, privacy, and a relaxed atmosphere. Our goal is to provide a quiet, uncrowded environment where guests can fully enjoy their surroundings, both within their suites and throughout the outdoor areas, including the pool.

We kindly ask all guests to respect the privacy and comfort of others during their stay and to be mindful of the following guidelines.

Housekeeping

For short-term stays of one week or less, daily housekeeping is limited to a quick sweeping of the floors and removing the Garbage.Bath towels are refreshed every three or four days, and bed linens are changed weekly.

For stays longer than one week, full cleaning is available by request while the suite has been vacant for a minimum of three hours.

Full cleaning bed dishes etc can be requested for 25usd per week. Additional towels or linens are always available upon request.

Please note: bath towels are not to be used at the pool or beach. Separate towels are provided for those areas.

Suite Occupancy

  • One-bedroom suites: maximum of two guests
  • Two-bedroom suites: maximum of four guests

Smoke-Free Property

Villa Star of the Sea is a non-smoking property. Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not permitted in suites or on the grounds.

Guests may smoke on the beach and are asked to dispose of all waste responsibly.

Quiet Hours

To ensure a peaceful environment for all guests, we ask that noise be kept to a minimum between 9:00 PM and 9:00 AM.

Phone & Online Use

Please keep phone ringers on low and conduct calls within your suite with doors closed, or away from shared areas.

Swimming Pool Use

  • Pool hours: 9:00 AM - 10:00 PM
  • No diving or jumping
  • No lifeguard on duty - use at your own risk
  • Please rinse off sunscreen or oils before entering the pool
  • Glass is not permitted in pool areas; plastic containers only

External Visitors

For the privacy of all guests, the property is reserved for registered guests only. Visitors may be accommodated at the beach bar area.

Laundry Service

Laundry service is available for a nominal fee. Please inquire for details.

Liability

Villa Star of the Sea is not responsible for personal belongings or valuables left unattended in suites or on the property.

Check-In / Check-Out

  • Check-in: 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Check-out: 12:00 Noon

Late departures may be accommodated subject to availability.

Guest Responsibility

Guests are asked to inform management of any medical or health concerns that may affect their stay or safety.

Damages

Please report any damages promptly. Costs for repair or replacement may be charged accordingly.

Ocean Swimming

Swimming in the ocean, is not recommended, and done at your own risk. Conditions such as waves and undertow may be present.

Pool Safety

There are no lifeguards on duty. The main infinity pool is elevated above beach level and does not have a guardrail. Guests are asked to exercise caution at all times.

Bicycles

Bicycles are available for guest use; however, helmets are not provided. Use is at your own risk. We recommend cycling within local areas only and avoiding Highway 200 due to traffic conditions.

Reservations & Deposits

A 50% deposit is required to secure all bookings. Reservations are not confirmed until the deposit is received.

Deposits are non-refundable but may be applied to a future stay within 365 days at 75% value, or 65% during the Christmas season.

Cancellations made within 21 days of arrival or missed reservations will result in forfeiture of the deposit.

Reservations made within a week of arrival will be subject to full payment in advance.

Pet Policy

Pets are generally not permitted between November and April See our Pet Policy below.

Health & Cleanliness

We maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation, including regular disinfection of high-touch surfaces and the use of approved cleaning products. Hand sanitizer is provided in each suite.

This agreement is intended to ensure a comfortable and respectful environment for all guests. While these guidelines are in place, we remain flexible where possible and always aim to make your stay as enjoyable as we can.

Septic System Guidelines

Villa Star of the Sea operates on a septic system. These systems are an environmentally sensitive bio-system and require careful use to ensure proper function. We kindly ask all guests to follow these guidelines during their stay.

Toilet Use

  • Only human waste and toilet paper may be flushed.
  • We provide biodegradable toilet paper suitable for septic systems.
  • If you did not eat it, it should not go into the toilet.

Do Not Flush

  • Sanitary napkins, tampons, or applicators
  • Wipes (including those labeled "flushable")
  • Paper towels or tissues
  • Cotton products or personal hygiene items
  • Food, grease, or foreign objects

Sanitary products and all non-flushable items must be placed in the provided waste receptacles.

Water & Drain Use

  • Please avoid excessive water use where possible.
  • Do not pour grease, oils, or food waste down sinks.
  • Use sinks and drains only for normal washing purposes.

Environmental Consideration

Our septic system is part of a broader effort to operate responsibly within the natural environment of Playa de Coco. Proper use helps protect local groundwater, surrounding ecosystems, and the ocean.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and sustainable system for all guests.

Pet Policy

Villa Star of the Sea welcomes well-behaved small dogs during the quieter months between May and October, when occupancy is lower and the environment allows for greater flexibility.

To ensure the comfort of all guests and the care of the property, we kindly ask that the following guidelines be observed:

General Guidelines

  • Pets must be well-behaved and under control at all times.
  • Pets must be kept on a leash while on the property, as required.
  • Pets are not to be left unattended in suites at any time.

Cleanliness & Care

  • Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pets at all times.
  • Pets are not permitted on beds or furniture.
  • Grooming, including bathing, is not permitted within the suites.

Shared Spaces

  • Pets are not permitted in the swimming pool.
  • Pets should not disturb other guests through excessive noise or behavior.

Responsibility

  • Any damage caused by pets will be the responsibility of the guest.
  • Villa Star of the Sea reserves the right to request removal of a pet if it becomes disruptive or unsafe.
